Personal Statement

My name is Connor Culp and I am the starting Kicker for Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, AZ.  As a member of the class of 2016, I am busy investigating where I will attend college.

I’ve been playing football for 3 years, starting with Freshman football as Kicker and Fullback (2012).  I dressed for 2 Varsity games as back up during Freshman year.  I started as kicker in Sophomore and Junior years for Varsity.

I have earned the following awards/honors:

  • Ranked #3 Nationally through Chris Sailer Kicking 2016
  • Ranked #1 Kicker in Pro Kicker.com for class of 2016
  • Ranked #1 for Kickoffs in Pro Kicker.com for class of 2016
  • Earned “5 Star” rating after Chris Sailer Vegas XXV (class of 2016)
  • Ranked #1 in Kickoffs after Chris Sailer Vegas XXV (class of 2016)
  • Ranked in “Top 12” after Chris Sailer Vegas XXVI (class of 2016) (3th ranked)
  • Tempe All City Award (Placekicker) 2015
  • Az All-State Placekicker 2014 Season
  • May 2016 Chris Sailer Kicking Camp Champion, Sherman Oaks, Ca

My plan for 2015 is to gain admission to an academically strong school and to enhance my kicking skills so that I will be a sought after and valuable addition to an already great football program.  I am focusing my efforts in three main areas:

  • I realize how important my academic success is to my college career and how it will shape the rest of my life.  I want to open as many doors as I can to find the best path for me.  I am committed to being the best student I can be by placing academics as the highest priority on my college preparatory list.
  •
  • I am continually working to improve and perfect my kicking abilities.  By continuing to participate and work on my form in Pro-Kicker and Chris Sailer Kicking Camps, engaging in head to head competition with my peers, and increasing my strength and flexibility through yoga and working with master instructor, Mack Newton, I will have the components necessary to be the best kicker I can be.
  •
  • I recognize the unique mental components that go into being a great placekicker.  The kicking position requires strong mental confidence so I can deliver what is expected of me.  Mack Newton’s physical training plan is supplemented with a strategy for mental confidence.  He explained to me that with his Taekwon-Do based confidence training, it won’t be a question of “if I can make it” but only a question of “when and where”.  I am proud and excited to be working with Mr. Newton.

It is my hope that after considering my background, prior achievements, national ranking and future plans and goals for improvement, that I will be considered as a viable candidate for a Place kicking position in an academically strong school with the ability to be a part of it's great football program.
