Coach Lou Holtz once said, “Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” This saying represents how I model and carry myself both in the classroom and on the field. I hold myself and others to high standards, strive and condition myself to succeed, as well as support and encourage others to do their best.
My passion is football. I am a team captain, a member of our team leadership council and quarterback. This year my football team made it to the State semifinal game. I am excited to lead the team next year as we strive to perfect our “west coast” offense. We definitely have our nuances, and plan on running shotgun and under-center packages. I also play basketball as a forward and run track as a means of cross training and staying involved. I embrace discipline, pride, honor and integrity. These attributes have afforded me the opportunity to achieve both academic and athletic awards and honors. While playing sports year round, volunteering, participating in NHS and FCA clubs, and participating in our district’s annual STEM challenge, I also prioritize a rigorous course load. I have maintained an A average each semester (4.0) while completing numerous AP and honors classes.
I am looking forward to finding a college or university where I can play at the next level and share my talents, strengths and friendship. I strive to make positive choices regardless of who may or may not be watching. I have earned the trust and respect of my coaches, teammates, teachers and classmates. I am the first one to arrive and the last one to leave. I know the choices I make today will affect my future. I recently came across this statement by Tony Jeary, “… successful people know what they really want and are willing to do whatever it takes, within the parameters of integrity and honor, to get it.” I choose success through clarity, focus, and execution. I am excited to find the college or university that believes I will be part of a plan to accomplish the goals of their program. I know that I will receive an incredible opportunity in furthering my education and find a path to promote a positive change in the world.
