Personal Statement

Although the question is usually asked jokingly, I was, more or less, raised in a barn. I grew up riding horses, doing farm work, and training my own horse. I was incredibly passionate about riding and never thought I could feel so strongly about another sport until I started playing field hockey. My older sisters played in high school and I went to their games as a kid, and when I finally tried it myself I fell in love with the sport immediately. I was so committed to playing that I decided to sell my horse to dedicate more of my time to field hockey. It was a sacrifice, but one I needed to make. Delving into practices and being part of a team reaffirmed that I had made the right choice, and my love for field hockey kept on growing. I set a goal to play collegiate field hockey to continue playing and improving. I expect my college years to help me grow as a person. My long-term goal is to major in biology and later use my education to move into a career in wildlife biology and research. As an athlete, I strive to encourage my team and be a dependable, skilled player. I have strong leadership qualities that I have proven as captain and MVP of my high school team. I am also someone my teammates can rely on for help both on and off the field. While challenging myself both mentally and physically throughout my college field hockey career, I will work hard to be an intimidating and effective defender with strong instincts and stick skills, as well as an asset on both offensive and defensive corners. Above all, I will be a responsible student, a respectful competitor, and a positive teammate to represent my school, coach, and team well.

The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
