I began playing field hockey the summer before 9th grade, but I've been around hockey all my life. I knew I wanted to play in college after my first high school JV season freshman year, and that desire to play at higher level fueled my recovery after I tore my ACL, MCL and meniscus in my right knee in high school preseason of 2013. I was out of full participation in sports for about 8 months, but all that time spent watching the game only made me want to play more and have strong recovery so I could play in college.
While I was sidelined, I was able to assess the game from a different perspective and listen to the coaches, players, and umpires to see the game in a bigger picture. It was great to finally get back on the field this past summer and I give 110% every day in practice to become a stronger player and make up for the time I missed. This high school season my team made it to quarter finals of regionals, and I was named to second team all conference.
Not only do I push myself on the field, but in academics also. I've taken all honors classes, took my first AP course sophomore year, and am currently taking 4 AP classes this year. I've maintained a weighted GPA of 3.8 throughout high school so far, and finished the first quarter of junior year with a weighted 4.2 GPA.
I hope to find a college that has both academic and athletic programs that are a good fit for me!
