Emily Bishop '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5'5", 103 pound junior forward from Maryland. I run a 13.81 sec. 100 yard dash. I have been playing field hockey since 8th grade, and was team captain on JV my sophomore year. At the end of that year I was pulled up to varsity for the playoffs where we were regional champs. I also play forward with Spitfire Club Field Hockey during their outdoor and indoor seasons. I have great leadership abilities, as I led JV through a good season as captain. I am a hard worker, and every year at my high school I received either the most desire or dedication award. One of my goals is to play intercollegiate field hockey in college; I love playing field hockey, love the team atmosphere, and am eager to take my field hockey career to the college arena. At this point, there isn't any school that I have a burning desire to attend; I am leaning towards a school on the east coast, but I am more than willing to consider schools elsewhere. I don't have a lot of preference regarding school type. I am open to big and small schools, division 3 to division 1 schools, and Christian schools. However, I do care about the level of academics. I plan to major in pre-veterinary medicine and then go to veterinary school, and in order to be accepted into one of these very competitive schools it would be better for me to get the best undergraduate education possible. Ideally, I would like to attend a school where I can find the right balance between education and athletics. My goal for college is to play field hockey there on the intercollegiate level, make a positive impact on my team, and become the best player I can become, a starting star player, I hope!
