My name is Bridget Cavanaugh. I am a 15 year old sophomore and I attend Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, Maryland. I was selected to play for the Varsity Field Hockey Team as a freshman and have been a starter for both my freshman and sophomore seasons. I lead the team in goals and was named “MVP” as a sophomore. During the current spring season, I began playing Junior Varsity Lacrosse but was moved up to play with the Varsity Lacrosse Team for the remainder of the season. Prior to moving up to Varsity, I was named Captain of the JV Team and enjoyed my leadership role. I am a member of the Howard Stampede Field Hockey Club, coached by Douglas Hamilton. I am a very versatile player, able to play both offensive and defensive positions. However, I prefer to play as a forward or mid-fielder. My goal is to attend a reputable university at Division III level, where I will be able to concentrate on obtaining a Nursing degree while playing competitive field hockey. Although I am drawn to the New England region of the US, I would certainly consider other regions if I find the right school.
I feel that I would be a strong asset to any team due to my dedication and leadership skills. I work very hard in school to obtain good grades in all high level courses and take my leadership roles, such as Vice President of the Class of 2016, very seriously. Any school that I choose to attend will receive my full effort, hard work and dedication both on the field and in the classroom.
