Ava Schwartz, Class of 2017
Since I first started playing field hockey in 7th grade, I knew I wanted to play at the highest level possible, specifically the U.S. Women's National Team. I am constantly striving to become the best player I can be, whether it be through practicing skills, conditioning, or learning new tactics from international hockey. I have participated in USA Field Hockey's Futures Program since 2014, and also play year-round with my club team, Oranje-Gottaloveit. I primarily play forward and midfield, and have strong stick skills, speed, and knowledge of the game. I am a very coachable player who loves to learn, and always try to be the hardest working player on the field.
I believe one of my best assets is my strong personal drive and self-motivation. Whether on or off the field, I tackle challenges with dedication and a will and commitment to succeed. I am perseverant and refuse to give up when I encounter a bump in the road.
As a collegiate field hockey player, I hope to improve my game with the help of knowledgeable coaches at the highest level possible in order to work toward my personal and team goals. I want to share my passion for hockey with a dedicated and close-knit team. I hope to be a source of encouragement and inspiration for my teammates. It is equally important that I am challenged not only on the field, but in the classroom. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, and take all the AP/honors courses offered at my school.
