Personal Statement
Hey coach!
I'm Manon van Weezel from the Netherlands. I have previously played for Providence College (as a freshman in the 2017 season). I had a great time there and I am incredibly grateful for the experience, the life-lessons and the successes I had there. Sadly there was no possibility to realize my bachelors degree in law (LLB) at Providence, hence I went back to The Netherlands. Undergraduate years at a college or university in the US do not count for an LLB degree over here.
Immediately after obtaining my LLB, I want to get my masters degree in law (LLM) in the US, while playing college field hockey. I would be able to start with the LLM program in 2021. My areas of interest include international law, human rights, environmental law, private law and tax law.
I currently go to Radboud University, where I’m in my second year of Law School (LLB program). Right now I’m top 10% of my class. This offered me the possibility to apply for the Radboud Honours Academy. I succeeded in getting in, which allows me to follow extra-curricular Honours Classes.
I play field hockey for Nijmegen, a top-20 team in The Netherlands which allows me to compete with some of the best players in the world. My current position is midfielder, but I can also play as a defender and a forward. You can put me anywhere on the field, and I’ll always play my heart out!

Before going to America to play college field hockey I played field hockey at HC Oranje Rood (previously known as Oranje Zwart), at the highest level in The Netherlands (National Division). I started at the age of 6 and loved playing hockey from the beginning. At the age of 7 I got scouted, a bit later I started playing for the Dutch District (south of the Netherlands) U12, after that I played for the Dutch District (south of the Netherlands) U14.
I would love to continue pursuing my passion by combining the highest level of education with the highest level of field hockey in the USA!
