I remember the first time I picked up a hockey stick in seventh grade, and I haven’t put it down since. I fell in love and continued to improve my skills by taking advantage of every opportunity that came my way. Along with field hockey I play competitive soccer, and am managing both sports along with my academics quite well. Field hockey season my sophomore year I was a leader of my high school team and feel I am a true team player. I love to help rally my team during practices and games, and am never one to drop my head when my team is down. That same season I was brought the opportunity to play with the Varsity team in CIFs, and received the coaches award. This season I played for my school's Varsity team, and we earned second place in league, as well as being titled CIF Open Division Runners Up. My goals for my remaining years of high school are to continue to sustain and improve my academic grades and continue to play field hockey at a Varsity level.
Outside of school and sports, I am greatly involved in my community. I have been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten, and have since earned both the Bronze and Silver Awards, and am currently working towards my Gold Award. I also have recently joined St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church's Youth Core Team, which is a team of high school students at my church that lead younger teens through the sacrament of Confirmation. I have grown up in this church community and am so excited to give back in a way that continues to shape my character.
One of my favorite quotes from Theodore Roosevelt continues to be my motto in everything I do, “nothing worth having comes easy.” I feel that my passionate and driven personality get me half way, but I know that if I don’t work hard in life I won’t succeed.
