Hi Coach, my name is Jordan Shilts, a current senior at Thorp Public High School in Thorp, WI. I’m a 6’2’’ 170lb starting pitcher for the Wisconsin All Stars. I consistently locate my fastball at 82-84, topping off at 85 mph. I have an effective slider and change-up that I can throw with confidence anywhere in the count. I’m very good at changing speeds, upsetting hitters timing, and forcing a lot of ground outs with my cutter. This year, I threw my first NO HITTER along with 12 K’s in one of the toughest conferences in Division 4. I also threw a 6 1/3 inning NO HITTER in Crete, NE this summer for the All Stars…in my first two starts, I had a 0.00 ERA. I have a high K/inning ratio and have the durability to go deep into games. My coaches define me as a lights out pitcher who is always working hard to improve the potential of the team. Defensively I’m a versatile player that can perform at any position. My infield velocity is 75 mph, outfield velocity of 80 mph, and I also have good wheels with a 60 yard dash time of 6.9 (All times verified at the Wisconsin All Stars Tryout Showcase and Wisconsin Top Prospect Showcase in Beloit). At the plate, I’m a disciplined contact hitter who rarely strikes out and drives the ball to gaps. I batted around .400 for the All-Stars during the 2011 summer season.
I have been a three sport, varsity athlete since my freshman year. I’m the Quarterback on the football field and a Pitcher on the baseball diamond, so I greatly understand the importance of leadership. During my 9th grade year in baseball, I was the first freshman to hit a home run since my coach, and went on to earn All-Conference Honorable Mention and RBI leader my sophomore year. As a junior, I earned 2nd Team All-Conference in one of the toughest conferences in Division 4. I also earned All-Conference Honorable Mention as a quarterback my junior year, and All-Northwest Honorable Mention my senior year. Along with that, I have received numerous team awards such as Offensive and Team Player of the Week, and was voted Captain for my senior season. Since my freshman year, I have started every varsity game and haven’t missed a single practice.
Although athletics may be a high priority, my focus on academics is the biggest emphasis. In the classroom, I have a 3.16 GPA, am currently ranked 16th of 55, and scored a 22 on my ACT. Since my 8th grade year, I’ve been enrolled in an advanced math class and continue to challenge myself with college and Advanced Placement courses. After high school, I am planning to pursue a career in Movement Science and/or Kinesiology while playing college baseball.
I make it a priority to live by 3 principles: integrity, character, and leadership…on the field, in the classroom, and in everyday life. I'm a great motivator with a very competitive edge. My experience in athletics has provided me with the skills necessary to be successful. I've been extremely blessed to have had that experience and will continue to apply those skills down the road. It is a goal and dream of mine to play college baseball, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish that.
