To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Alec Danen. I am from Howards Grove, Wisconsin, and I am writing to you because of my interest in playing collegiate baseball. I currently play on my high school team, the Howards Grove Tigers, as well a select team called, Bullpen Elite. I consider myself a “we player,” not a “me player.” Regardless of my individual role, I am always committed to helping the team win and understand the importance and willingness to make sacrifices for same.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself. I started as a Freshman on the JV and Varsity on the Howards Grove Tigers Baseball Team. I also played on Bullpen Elite Select Baseball Team. As being a freshman captain I lead by example. First at practice and last to leave. I believe that being late to either practice or an event is one of the most disrespectful things to do. On the Bullpen Elite I won the hitting award for batting .500 and also being a leader on the team. For my freshman year I was awarded the Tiger award for having a great attitude, hard work, volunteering, and showing integrity under pressure.
I understand the dynamics and importance of teamwork and am concerned with all aspects of the game, not just how I am doing in the game. I am 100% committed to the team. That commitment includes encouraging and motivating my teammates. I have demonstrated this by arranging and spending time together off the field, developing our skills.
As a student, I am a sophomore at Howards Grove High School. I currently have a 3.29 GPA. I plan on taking the SAT Spring/Summer of 2018. I feel I am a respectful and a good student. I have got into the habit of self-discipline, which includes prioritizing and managing my time with the expectation that not only am I going to seek out my weaknesses and attack them, but that I will be successful in my classes and do well. I am respectful to my teachers, instructors and coaches, understanding my role as “student,” and his or hers as “teacher.” I have never received any disciplinary actions or caused any disciplinary issues in the classroom, school or public venue. I demonstrate citizenship by volunteering my time to back to the community via assisting other youth baseball coaches with our recreational youth baseball program, festival and fund raising events for our athletic programs and community outreach events that benefit local non-profits. Some of the most recent events are Pause for a Cause, Silver Dollar Days, and Howards Grove Recreational Baseball.
I hope that you are able to see me play. I have included my athletic and academic information.
I would love to meet you and talk about the possibility of being a part of your team in 2020. If there is anything I can do to help you decide whether I might be a good fit for your program, please don’t hesitate to ask. I sincerely thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Alec Michael Danen
