February 2012Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Addison Barber and I am a 6', 175 lb. Junior from James Wood High School in Winchester, Virginia. As a freshman I was called up halfway through the season to start pitching for the varsity team. My first start against a strong team, I completed the game allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks. I finished the season with a 4.81 ERA. My sophomore year I pitched 28 1/3 innings and finished off the season with a 3.95 ERA.
As I have held a 3.5 GPA the past two years, I feel like I have what it takes to be a student athlete at a 4-year college. Also as I am the first to arrive and the last to leave, my coach is going to count on me this season as a leader and role model for upcoming freshmen and sophomores. I am very excited for this upcoming Spring season and I am also excited to look at colleges. I am open to any 4-year college, but I would love to get to step on the mound and have a role on the team on my freshman year.
