"My parents tell me my first word was 'ball'. Judging from home videos there is rarely a clip of me as a toddler without a bat or ball in my hand. My dad was a high school baseball coach so my earliest memories are of being with him in the dugout or in the field watching him coach and being around the game. Although I played many sports growing up, baseball was always my first love and the one I excelled in the most.
I started playing high level 'select' ball at age eleven and traveled around the nation playing with and against the best players of my age and older. Defensively I have always been versatile, playing every position on defense at one time or another. But my main strength was always hitting. My dad would always say 'If you can hit they will find a place for you'.
As a member of the class of 2018 I was honored to make my high school baseball debut as a Freshman on Varsity at my 5A Texas school. This past year as a Sophomore I started at second base and hit two-hole for my team. I hit .500 for the season, on OBP-.562, Slg- .696. I led the team in hits with 32 hits as well triples and doubles, only striking out 5 times in 70 plate appearances.
2016 Awards I received as a sophomore are
Team "Offensive MVP"
Superlative "District 16-5A Newcomer of the Year"
"First team Academic All-district" with a 3.7 GPA
"All East Texas First Team Infield"
"All-State Second Baseman"
My summer team is the Houston Banditos. I am 6'3" and #175 and just hitting my growth and physical maturity. I am a versatile player that puts my team first playing any position I am needed. I have the experience , speed (6.8-60), and skills to be an asset to any team. I am a strong hitter with a good eye, hitting for both average and power. I hit .600 at the Perfect Game 16 u Wood Bat National Championship " All Tournament Team. " I love the game and it is my goal to play at the highest level possible for as long as I can.
I am looking for a college or university with a competitive baseball program where I will be a good fit. I am interested in finding a college home that I can pursue my baseball and academic goals to their fullest extent. "
Sincerely,
Jamey Richey
