Ryan Van Leeuwen '15 Recruiting Profile

I am a left-handed, 6’-1”, 185-lb baseball player.  I love the game.   Baseball has been a passion of mine since I was 5 years old and played in my first game. Like most, I began playing baseball with rec teams, and then progressed to select teams where I learned the fundamentals of the game from great coaches.   Through these experiences, I’ve brought the skills I’ve learned to high school baseball.  I am now a 17-year old high school Senior and still love to play the game.  As a freshman, sophomore, and junior, my main positions were Pitcher and 1st Baseman, while also playing outfield as needed.  My junior year, I started at First Base (All District Honorable Mention) and pitched for our Varsity team.  My senior year I started on the Varsity and played OF due to team injuries but also some at first base in addition to pitching.  I was selected First Team All-District as a pitcher and was also selected as Team MVP.  Additionally, I made "Elite" LeveI Academic All-State.  I continue to gain what I can every time I play in order to fulfill my dream of playing college baseball.  I am willing to put in the time and dedication I know it requires in order to perfect my game.  Knowing that my baseball goals are also connected to my studies, I have managed to maintain a 4.1 grade point average since I began high school as well as scoring a 31 on the ACT test.   The opportunity to play college baseball and attain my degree are my goals.
