I want to go to college to be able to have more in life. I have four siblings and I see how hard my parents have worked to give me the opportunities that can offer me more options after I graduate from high school. I understand the value of a dollar and the need to work hard in order to be successful. I know that successful people will put in extra work that is needed to reach their goals. I have tried out for every sport in high school and feel that I have given 100% effort in each sport. I made starting short-stop my freshman year in baseball and was awarded Newcomer of the Year that same year. I also pitched in our playoff games where we advanced to regional quarterfinals. I have continued to grow as an athlete my sophomore year where I finished with a batting average of .424. Other sports I tried out for were football, and track where I have also been very successful. Accomplishments that I have made in these sports my sophomore year include: varsity quarterback/Awarded Newcomer of the Year and I am advancing to State in Track this next weekend in the 4 x 200. I received four gold metals at the area track meet this year that advanced me to regionals in long jump, high jump, 200m dash and 200m relay. While sports have demanded much of my time in high school I am still able to maintain at 3. GPA in my academics. I have worked hard to maintain a balance between school and my community as well. I volunteer in my church by helping our religious education classes and community events in my hometown. I have a sincere desire to become successful in my adult life and to be someone that others can look up to; especially my younger brothers and sisters. I plan to 'attack' my Junior and Senior years in high school with determination and a focus unparalleled to none other.
