My name is Zach Luke and I am a student-athlete in the Class of 2015 at Notre Dame Green Pond High School in Easton, PA. I am 17 years old and like many of my friends, I do not have a specific career in mind at this point, but I am sure it will either be a science-oriented or business-oriented profession. My goal is to be accepted in a highly respected school that would offer me the learning opportunities and experiences to help me choose a targeted career path and then help prepare me for this selected profession. Additionally, I am also looking for a school that will provide me an opportunity to reach my full potential as a baseball player in a fun and competitive team atmosphere.
I am a well-rounded person and I have tried to find a balance of academic achievement and sporting competition, while also being involved in social and community activities. I have a GPA of just under 3.0 with a demanding academic schedule and I have earned varsity letters in golf, basketball and baseball. I have excelled the most in the sport of baseball, gaining All League and All Area nominations along with other personal awards, but I feel most proud of being part of the most successful high school baseball team ever at Notre Dame Green Pond High School. This past season, our team won the Colonial League Championship, our first-ever District Championship and our first-ever PA State tournament game. I will always have great memories of this team and the fun we had, and I am proud of being the winning pitcher in all of these games.
I also make an effort to help our community and our society in ways that I can. I am active in various clubs at school including the Key Club and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). I also like to umpire youth baseball games and ref youth basketball games, and I am an assistant coach at youth baseball summer camps and a mentor to kids at the elementary school I attended.
I believe my perseverance and drive will help me to be a successful student-athlete in college. I never give up and I work hard towards my goals. I also believe that baseball has taught me many life lessons including leadership, teamwork, commitment and sportsmanship. Though baseball is a major part of my life, family is the most important part. I would not be the young man that I am without the love, support and energy that family has provided me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope this gives you a better understanding of who I am and the goals I have.
Sincerely, Zach Luke
