I grew up with a father who passed on his love of baseball to me. From the time that I could hold my big red plastic bat, he was pitching balls to me and teaching me the fundamentals of the sport. Throughout the years that I have played baseball, I have learned that to be successful, I need to work hard, both on and off the field, and be disciplined both while playing, and in my personal life. I have also had to learn to deal with failure in a positive way. I understand that at times, failure is part of the game, but even in failure I can learn to better myself. Now that college is in the near future, I hope to apply what I have learned to also be successful in acquiring a business degree, playing ball, and facing whatever comes after that.
I believe that I possess some unique characteristics that have developed because of my love of baseball, and that will help me to be beneficial to any team. One is that I possess leadership skills among my teammates and peers. My high school coach recently informed me that he saw leadership skills in me and wanted me to prepare to take a leadership role when the season begins. I also have had parents thank me for being a positive role model for their children, and express their appreciation to me for helping their children with their basic baseball skills. Leadership and teaching are very important to me.
