Growing up I was always the smallest kid on the field, the new kid that nobody knew, and continuously needed to prove myself to new coaches. Being the son of a career Marine you learn how to adapt with moving every couple of years, regardless of size, because that small player that no one knows isn’t exactly what catches a coach’s eye. But those weren’t necessarily bad things, they forced me to learn and maximize mechanics, create a hyper feel for the game, understand that intangibles make a difference, and develop a baseball acclimate that allowed me to compete with kids much bigger and older. Although physically I'm still developing (6'1/185), I've grown to the same size if not bigger than most kids I use to compete with, and those attributes I learned in order to survive as the small kid that nobody knew are now paying dividends as I continue to develop as a player.
My goal is to play college baseball, at what level I'm not exactly sure, but I know I'll continue to work and improve my game so I'm prepared to make the best decision that fits athletically and academically. I’m open to all levels of competition, from JUCO to Ivy League, but ultimately want to find the right program that will challenges me on the field and in the classroom.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my personal statement, any questions please feel free to contact me through my NCSA account, and good luck with the 2016 season.
