I am Matt Bowman, senior at Porter Ridge HS in Indian Trail, NC. I have been playing organized Baseball since I was 4 years old. I absolutely love the game. I have played other sports as well, but Baseball has always been my passion. I feel that my drive to succeed and my god given talents have put me in a situation where I feel like I can contribute to a quality organization at the next level. I am fully committed academically and athletically to making this happen. All I ask is a chance to prove myself.
PERSONAL INFO:
As mentioned above, I have played Baseball since I was old enough to do so. I made the All Star Team at every level of Rec Ball, etc. I was a starter and achieved success at the Middle School level pitching and playing outfield. In High School, I have been a 3 year starter at Varsity at pitching and playing outfield and fully expect to do the same in my upcoming Senior, 4th season. Porter Ridge is a 4A school that plays in a tough Charlotte/Meck conference. Last season, my Junior year, I was selected as Porter Ridge’s Pitcher of the Year. I was 4 – 1 as a pitcher with an era of 2.3. I also pitched a no-hitter and was selected honorable mention in the all conference selection. My pitch speed is in the mid 80’s that tops out close to 90. My curveball is my 2nd best pitch, with my changeup being effective as well. I am working on my slider. In the outfield, I threw several players out at home and at other bases. My speed helps in the outfield and stealing bases. I run right under 7 in the 60. My batting average was around .320. I would like to fine tune my abilities above with the help of a quality coaching staff. I am looking forward to this challenge.
DEVOTION:
I am ALL IN when it comes to my commitment to making this happen. I can not tell you enough how much it would mean to be given a chance to further my Baseball playing career and my Education at the college level. I have the upmost respect for the game and those who teach it. All I ask is a chance to prove it.
SIDE NOTES:
I was a 4 year Varsity starter in Football as well. I played QB, RB, and Safety. I feel that Football made me stronger and more well rounded for Baseball. I ran a 4.7 in the 40. The comradery of Team sports is very important to me in the life learning examples it gives back to me. Football took some of my Travel/Showcase Baseball time from me the last few seasons. That is the only side effect to me from playing both sports. My passion though is Baseball.
