My Name is Cameron Cotter. I’m currently a sophomore at Northern Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina and will graduate in 2017. I’ve had the privilege to play baseball since I was 5 years old and my love for the game has increased every year. Today, I play baseball on the 2017 North Carolina Baseball Academy Gold Spikes team. Last year, I played JV baseball for my High School team, and this fall I have been invited to 8-man varsity practices. I continue work very hard to learn the fine points of the game and have excelled at many positions. What I have learned from playing baseball is that getting better requires commitment and determination, and I apply this to my everyday life as well, especially for my school work. My ambition is for the remainder of my high school career to continue with excellent grades in my standard and AP course work. I currently have an grade point of 5.14 in first semester of the year. I plan to enroll in at least 8 AP courses through my high school career, and I am currently enrolled in 4. My ambition is also to be a starting position player and pitcher on Varsity baseball team for the next 2 years. Hopefully, with the success I plan to achieve in academics and athletics, it will create many opportunities for me to continue my education at the university level, as well as, the possibility to continue playing baseball at the next level. Currently, my intention is to pursue an education in the medical or engineering fields. In regards to other athletics interests besides baseball, I have played soccer from time I was 4 years old up to high school, and during my freshman year I also ran cross country and was on the swim team. My focus going forward will be primarily baseball and I work year-round with a trainer to help build strength and speed. My other interest besides athletics are Science Olympiad, volunteering at the Miracle League, volunteering with a local church and I am looking forward to a Spanish emersion trip to Peru this summer. I believe my coaches and friends would describe me as a leader and team player who is passionate to excel athletically and academically. I am willing to work hard and take feedback very seriously and will always work to improve in areas suggested by my coaches. I demonstrate composure and discipline on and off the field, but know baseball is a game and it needs to be fun as well. I work daily to continue to improve my skills and have a great desire to continue to play competitively after high school. Thank you, Cameron Cotter
