Baseball is my life. I enjoy it so much because I get to test my abilities and play with my friends. Without it, I would be lost. This game has been a huge part of my life. I have committed myself to playing baseball for 13 years, and I'm not ready to stop just yet. I want to compete at the next level and test my abilities even more. It's like a hunger that never stops.
My middle school coach told me that if I were to play high school baseball, I would have to get in shape. At that age I was about 4'11" and 145 pounds. So that summer I got a personal trainer who helped me lose 35 pounds over the course of 3 months. He also taught me a lot about nutrition and eating healthy. My life has changed forever. Losing those 35 pounds has given me the drive to never quit and to keep striving for more.
I always try to do my best, and if I make a mistake, I try to correct it. In my mechanics or anything like that, I always strive to improve. I work hard for what I have. Most kids are on the couch everyday watching TV or playing video games. While they are doing that, I am either working out or studying.
Like I said before, you have to devote yourself to this game. But you should have fun and make friends on the way. Every team I have been a part of, they are like family to me, especially my high school team now. I have been a part of that team for the last 3 years, and we see each other every day. There is not one moment where I will not miss them when I graduate.
In college I plan to expand my knowledge of nutrition, sports medicine, and physical therapy to help other athletes of all ages.
