My name is Seth VanDerbeck and I am a lefty batting, right handed catcher. This Spring I returned from injury with 12 games left and led my team in scoring, batting average and on base percentage and made the Sectional Playoffs after a 1-7 start and received All League Honorable mention. In our only playoff game I went 2 for 3 with a Home Run, single and Sac bunt.
I have learned through nearly always being the youngest player on any team that I have to be versatile so I also play all positions in the outfield and the corners of the infield so I can help my team where ever I’m needed. I have been very successful in this being a team leader with the bat and in the field winning Travel Championships early on and now being the only starting Sophomore on our High School teams Section 9 Championship team last season finishing in the top 10 in New York State Class A. I earned Section 9 Honorable Mention for all stars playing only half of the season this year and was Academic All-League for this and last season in Baseball and the past three seasons in Soccer and Football (kicker/punter) and am our school's first ever Coach's All-Section team member for Soccer as a Junior and was named Section 9 All-Section goalkeeper and selected to start for the Exceptional Senior Game.
I am also working now on raising my 3.94 GPA even higher so I can earn as much in academic scholarships as possible to make me a great choice for any college looking to add more than an on field leader and strong player. I have a 1300 on my SAT.
My video is now up for coaches to review. My POP times are solid in it and will continue to improve back to where I was last summer as I am now back to catching full time after recovering from my shoulder surgery in January.
My deciding factors for college are to achieve a degree in Computer Science, gain a large amount of academic scholarships to have as little debt as possible and to PLAY BASEBALL!
