Through my parents, Catholic education, and great coaches, I have established a belief of faith, courage and strength.  Faith in myself and my abilities, courage to be competitive and do what is right, and the mental and physical strength to carry out a goal in the face of adversity.

My love for sports and playing competitively in soccer, basketball, football and baseball have led me to my favorite sport, baseball.  In 6th and 7th grade, I had the opportunity to be the bat boy for our high school varsity baseball team and experienced the game all the way to Sectionals and States.  The experience greatly affected me in the camaraderie of its team mates and having one goal, to win States.  Currently, I still have friends from that team that play college baseball and train me with their college summer workouts.

The lessons that I learn on the baseball field carry over to the way that I live my life.  My approach is to be positive and prepared, outcomes will vary with success and failures, but my response is to always battle and stay focused.  This helps keep me grounded both on and off the field.  As a pitcher, I know that I am only as good as the guys behind me, I am very loyal to my team and a team leader who has a lot of intestinal fortitude.  I am very resilient and have a passion for competition.

My name is Owen O'Reilly and my goal is to graduate high school with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Distinction while participating in community service with my school.  I look forward to earning the opportunity to play for a great baseball program while obtaining a quality education.  I believe that I have the drive, discipline, skills and experience to excel at the collegiate level of baseball.
