August 2013Personal Statement
My name is Sean Toms. I am currently a Senior at Waldwick High School in Waldwick, New Jersey. It has always been my dream to play baseball beyond High School. Since I was old enough to throw and hit a baseball, I have been in love with this sport. I would also like to use baseball as a tool to obtain a great education with my primary interest being to major in atmospheric science and meteorology. I am dedicated to being the best student and athlete that I can be. I am a hard worker both in the classroom and on the athletic field. I believe in leading by example and fully believe that I can be a valuable asset to any college program. Ultimately, playing college baseball while obtaining a degree are the goals that I am driven to obtain.

- My team went 1-1-1 and lost in semifinals. I was the starting pitcher in our 1st tournament game and gave up 2 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings shutting the other team out after the 2nd inning. I left game with a man on 1st and 4-3 lead in 7th inning but the other team was unfortunately able to tie us with 2 outs. For remainder of tournament, I played 1st Base and made no errors. Offensively, I reached base three times.

- Showcased defensive skills at 1st Base and hitting skills during drills. Played 1st Base for majority of scrimmage with one inning at 3rd Base and one inning at pitcher. Pitched shutout inning with one strikeout.
