My name is Jack I have loved the game of baseball since I was a little boy. My family instilled in me a true love and appreciation of the game. I could watch baseball all day long if my parents let me.
I always felt like I've had to work harder than anyone else to recognize my own potential and abilities. It's not about how many all-star teams someone makes or who your mom/dad is; at my level that doesn't matter anymore. It's about showing the dedication and effort required to take my game to the next level, to play well in high school and make it to the college level.
I am dedicated to my teammates and will give more than 100% each and every time I go to practice or prepare for a game. I am a "quiet leader"; I encourage my teammates to excel through my passion, energy and attitude both on/off the field.
I've learned that being a "lefty" is a gift I never knew I had. Even though I'm now limited by the number of positions I can play, it has pushed me to be more defensively minded in the outfield, learning to work the mental aspect of pitching and change the behavior of the pitcher when I'm at bat. I've been told I possess a great deal of raw talent by all my coaches; I listen, focus and work hard on what I've been taught by my coach. Batting- I have quick hands, hit for power and can hit with power to all field. Playing hockey has helped me to work on both the speed and strength aspects of my baseball skills.
Academically, I carry a 3.8 GPA at Randolph High School. It's a very good High School. But I've had to work extremely hard on my grades, sometimes more than others because I was diagnosed with dyslexia in middle school and things don't always come easy to me. But I've maintained a positive attitude and will not allow myself to "fail" academically. I've got a great support network of teachers, counselors and of course my parents.
I am confident that I've got the right skills to play this game but I know that I am still learning the game everyday. I listen. I watch. I respect my coaches and teammates. I just simply want to play baseball and will continue to work hard, both on the field and in the classroom. I always have something to prove to myself and know I can achieve great things when I practice and put my mind to it. I am ready for whatever lies ahead.
