My name is Grant Bohling. At 6’ 1" and 195 lbs, I am a hard working and disciplined student athlete. I will graduate from Southwest High School in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2018. My current weighted GPA is 4.2 overall, and 50% of the classes I am taking are Honors or Advanced Placement. My non weighted GPA is 3.92. It has been my dream to play baseball at the collegiate level for as long as I can remember. I play outfield and hit left-handed, and have recently begun playing first base, due to position needs of our High School Varsity team.
I currently play on the Varsity team at Lincoln Southwest High School. In my first season on Varsity, our team has won our district championship and placed 3rd the State Tournament (Class A). Making the state tournament and getting to play at Haymarket Park was definitely a highlight of my first Varsity season!
My past experience includes playing for both the St. Louis Gamers travel team in Perfect Game tournaments in Fort Meyers, FL and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and playing with the UBA Elite 17U team for Fall ball in 2015. I also will be playing with the UBA Elite 18U travel ball team in the Fall of 2016. In addition, I was also selected to play with several USA Baseball teams, including the 2016 NTIS Midwest Region 16U team, and had the opportunities to play in St. Louis. MO and Cary, NC. Pitching in these leagues is top of the line, with some pitchers throwing 93 mph. Playing at this level as allowed me the opportunity to further enhance my skills both offensively and defensively.
I am a very competitive athlete with passionate drive and determination to do what it takes to play at the next level. In the summer between my Freshman and Sophomore year in high school, I worked out 6 days a week to put on 45 lbs and drop my 60 yard time from 7.4 to 6.9 seconds in only a few short months. At times, my workouts were 4 or more hours a day. This has taught me how to have an incredibly hard work ethic and prepare myself for the next level.
I am a quiet, respectful proven leader, who leads by example. I am open to several geographic areas for college, but would like to be in the Midwest or Eastern part of the country. I am interested in attending a 4-year college to earn a bachelor’s degree.
