Practice for the Bozeman Bucks started March 1. I am excited to be back on the field. My high school does not have a baseball team so I’m looking forward to my first American Legion game in May. This year, my junior year, I’ve maintained my cumulative 4.0 GPA even while taking two AP classes. I am taking AP American Studies/English III Honors and AP Psychology. I am also taking Pre-Calculus, German IV, Biomedical Science and Chemistry. Taking a rigorous course load in high school will better prepare me for my college courses. Determination to be successful and time management are good skills I am learning in high school that will make me a good teammate and well-rounded person in college. In the off-season I am driven and a hard worker. I see a personal trainer twice a week and do workouts every other day of the week that he makes for me. Being from Montana it is hard to play baseball during the winter so my dad created a way to get around that to allow me to throw. My dad hooked a net to the ceiling of our warehouse that I can raise and lower to simulate long toss or a bullpen. Wanting to play baseball in Montana during the winter is hard because there is snow, but I'm dedicated and have found a way to get around bad weather.
The highlight of my last summer season was throwing a complete game, allowing just two unearned runs in the Montana/Alberta State Tournament against Lethbridge, Canada. I had my best pitching performance of the entire year that day as the Bozeman Bucks started things out the right way and won 9-2 in the opening round of the tournament. I was so excited after the game because I had worked so hard over the summer to finally throw a crucial game and perform at the level I think I can. That season was one with highs as well as lows. It taught me to work even harder than I already have in the past to show what I am capable of in front of a new coach, how to take a leadership role by leading through example and occasional words, how to have patience, and to be a team player at times when things were going badly.
The summer of 2015, I was the starting first baseman for the Bozeman Bucks and from mid-June through the end of the season I was the unnamed ace of the pitching staff. At the end of the year I received the Best Pitcher Award voted on by my coaching staff. This award shows my hard work and desire to be the best pitcher I can be. I am also a driven person and my main goal is to step onto a college baseball field and show the world my talents on and off the field. I am looking for a school that can give me a good experience athletically as well as academically. I want a school that will give me an education that will prepare me for the real world and for life after baseball.
