Personal Statement

Over the many years I have played baseball, I have learned many things about the game, what it takes to be great, and what I can learn from baseball. I have learned from coaches, parents, and players, who have given me feedback on my game and what I need to improve in order to play baseball at the collegiate level. However, I believe that I am my most important critic, and I have learned to self-correct my mistakes and learn from them. This has become more and more important over the course of my baseball career, and is starting to become a real asset.

As a baseball player, I consider myself someone who is solid at every aspect of the game. I am a line drive hitter who can hit the ball all over the diamond. I don't hit for an excess of power, but I occasionally lift a line-drive over the outfielder's head and I routinely hit balls down the line and in the gap. Fielding is my greatest asset as a baseball player. I have sure hands, a smooth fielding motion, and experience from nearly every position. I am a natural infielder, but I have varsity experience in the outfield as well. As a middle infielder, I seldom make an error, I have a quick exchange, and I get rid of the ball very quickly. I have a strong enough arm to throw the ball on a line from any position on the infield without sacrificing accuracy, which has become very important as I progress as a player. I am not a speed-demon, but I run the bases very well and my baseball IQ is extremely high, which helps me to be a good base runner as well as a good fielder and teammate.

In terms of academics, I hold myself to the highest standards. I was raised to believe that education is the most valuable thing you can have, and I have used this all my life as motivation to do well in school. My cumulative GPA for all my trimesters in high school so far is 3.67. I hold myself accountable in the classroom and strive for success through hard work and dedication. I always complete my homework on time, and my teachers have recognized me as a dedicated student in the past.

I believe I am a good candidate for any college team because I am a student of the game and I am always learning to become a better player, which will allow me to improve throughout my entire baseball career. I work hard on the field, in the weight room, and in the classroom in order to ensure that I am given the best opportunity possible to succeed. I have always wanted to play baseball in college and I am willing to put in as much work as I need to not only play baseball in college, but to be as successful as possible when I get there. My motivation is unparalleled and I am constantly working to make sure I am staying ahead of my opponents.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
