Jimmy Leary '13 Recruiting Profile

My dream is to play baseball for as long as I can. Baseball is my passion. I enjoy the challenge of facing batters in tight situations in key moments in the game. I really like hitting the inside corners on batters and then dropping the change-up low and away. Or throwing my sinker and getting the batters to consistently ground out. I have a “heavy” ball so I get a lot of weak hits. I like being part of a team sport and helping my team to win. I was really disappointed that I could not try out for my high school team this past year because of a broken ankle from basketball, but I used that as motivation to work extra hard to be ready for my summer AAU travel team. My goal is to improve my game and take it to the next level in college. I want to play college baseball and have already started a training program to get me ready to achieve this goal. I have never lifted weights so I am excited to think that with a weight training program in addition to the band work I do now, that I will be able to increase my velocity. My goal is to play for a competitive collegiate team for a college with a solid academic program for sports management. After I graduate from college I want to combine my passion for baseball with my career in a sports related position.
