  • "5-foot-10, 180-pound left-handed hitting catcher, versatile enough to jump out the outfield. Ran a 6.84 sixty at the event at an easy pace. Really showed plus athleticism and physicality at the workout. The throwing is plenty, the arm is loose and short on the back half. Threw 74 mph from behind the dish. Pop time of 1.92 during the workout. The feet can continue to improve during the transfer, they have improved since the last time we saw him. Really like the bat, tee exit of 82 mph but there is a ton more in there. The set up is wide, with minimal movement as the swing is under control throughout. There is a small pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches. The path is flat through the zone. 60 Yd- 6.84 Tee Exit Velocity- 82 mph Catching Velocity- 74 mph Pop Time- 1.92"

  • Named Top 2018 Positional Player Prospect. Top Performer: Best Swing. Evaluation Comments: "The best catching prospect at the event in this man’s opinion. Swung the bat extremely well at the event as he barreled up the ball with confidence throughout the game. The set up is even with his hands and feet. Picks up the front foot and puts it back down without coming out of position. The path is direct to the ball and the plate coverage is good. Tee exit velocity of 80 mph, as he needs to get physically stronger. In the outfield, threw 82 mph from the outfield with an athletic approach to the ball and plenty of arm strength. Could certainly play outfield at the next level. Threw 72 mph from behind the dish, the foot work can improve helping the arm strength come out. The receiving is solid and he shows the ability to block. Ran an athletic 4.47 down the line on a dig. Big time prospect for me." Preliminary Report: "left-handed hitting catcher can really swing the bat. He barreled up a bunch in balls in game." Pre-event Preview report: "Left-handed hitting catcher who continues to improve his game. Attended the New England Top Prospect Games Underclass last June. His athleticism sets him apart as he can jump out to the outfield and play solidly. Behind the dish, he has a simple throwing path with strength to it. The receiving is solid and the blocking is appropriate. The bat has life to it and he showed the ability to spread the ball. Good looking prospect who should warrant a ton of college attention." and "Left-handed hitting catcher who can kick out to the outfield as well. A very promising player who should get a ton of attention from colleges this coming summer. Attended out Top Prospect Games Underclass at NEBC. Very good athlete who runs a 6.9 and has a pop time of 2.01. The arm has plenty of strength to it and the bat is flat and direct to the ball. Needs to add physical strength but he’s a good one."

  • National Ranking: HIGH FOLLOW. Grade 8 out of 10. State Ranking: 2nd Catcher, 10th Overall. Batting Practice Highlights: Cole Durkan (2018 C, Jefferson, MA): Double tap trigger with good balance, smooth stroke with excellent bat speed creating consistently hard contact. Top Performer: 40 Yd Dash - 5.04. Pop - 2.01. OF Velo - 81. Report: "Cole Durkan is a 2018 C/OF with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Jefferson, MA who attends Wachusett Regional. Medium frame with athletic, highly projectable present build. Ran 40 yard dash in 5.04 seconds. Double toe tap trigger at the plate, overall approach is hard to the pull field, shows legitimate bat speed through the zone with good strength off the barrel. Contact was mostly to the pull field but did show ability to go up the middle; good line drive contact throughout. Showed clean, smooth actions to the ball in the outfield, fielding cleanly with balance and working through the ball into release, with OF velocity up to 81 MPH. Also caught, receives well and gains ground forward into release, makes accurate throws down to second base with pop times as low as 2.01 seconds and arm strength up to 73 MPH. Very good student." • Top Tools Breakdown - Best Arm behind the plate: Cole Durkan, C, 2018 . Scout evaluation - "Good looking young athlete who catches and can also kick to the outfield. I like his versatility and his bat. Hits from a no stride approach and the hands work, very direct to contact. Tee exit velocity of 78 mph and swung the bat well in the game. Ran well, 7.25 60-yard dash and showed a great deal of athleticism. Threw 79 mph from the outfield, where he tracked it down well and threw 72 mph from behind the dish. Receiving is average but will soften with reps in work. The pop time is 2.18 as his feet are quick and he throws out of a short slot. He needs to stay lower and throw the top half of the ball to improve. I like his chances, especially if he gets stronger." • Scout evaluation - "Very good looking athlete, 5-foot-9, 160-pounds. Worked out behind the dish and swung the bat from the left side. Threw the ball well at 66 and showed clean footwork and a nice transfer. Pop time of 2.16 and he is athletic back there, ran a 7.44. The swing is simple and flat right now. Tee exit velocity of 81 at this point. This guy should be on everyone's radar. "
