My name is Gus Sholar. I am 17 years old and I'm going to be a senior at Hopkinsville High School in Kentucky. I begun playing baseball when I was 4 years old. I have played in levels such as t-ball, travel baseball, middle school, and finally high school baseball. I have played multiple sports such as YMCA soccer, youth football, middle school and high school football but baseball has always been my favorite sport. I have lettered in football and baseball at the varsity level. Since playing baseball I have learned many things from multiple coaches. I have had success, failures, and struggles playing baseball and have learned that you must play as a team and not for my own personal gain. I have a very supporting family who has been there for me in all of my athletic decisions that were best for me. This past summer i played American Legion Baseball and we had a lot of struggles. I watch players leave and give up on the team because they didn't want to work hard and get better. It showed me that i can work through any struggles. My parents and coaches have always taught me to never quit and to always finish what i started. Since I am going to be a senior I am going to be a team captian and will be taking a leadership role on and off the baseball field. I am currently organizing off season practices to help all of the younger players learn to love the game as much as me. My goals are to play college baseball to help me get a better education so i can determine my career path and continue playing the game of baseball.
