My name is Caleb Graff and I am from Westfield, Indiana. I am currently attending Ancilla College and playing middle infield. I will be graduating from Ancilla in May of 2017 with my associate's degree. I am hoping to transfer to a 4-year school, continue to play baseball and to further my education by obtaining my bachelor's degree. I enjoy working with and helping little children and I hope my degree will allow me to continue to do so. I plan to continue to work hard and challenge myself in baseball and in the classroom.
One of the things that makes me a great baseball candidate is my experience of playing baseball at a college level, my knowledge of the game and how I conduct myself both on and off the field. I watch and study professional ball and films of myself to further my understanding of the game and learn where I can make improvements. I play the game competitively with heart and dedication.
What makes me different from other candidates is my focus, my drive and my determination. I focus on playing the game and helping my team and learning the game. I am driven to improve to be more of an asset to my team. I am determined to be the best player, person, student, son, brother and example in all aspects of my life. I consider myself to be a leader on and off the field. I'm a leader on the field because I work hard and my teammates look for me to do things the right way and get the job done. I'm a leader off the field not only because I am the big brother in my family and need to be a positive influence. I also try to lead in my community service work, such as coaching little children in football, baseball and softball and working with Special Olympics. I work hard to represent my community and my family well. In athletics, I'm dedicated to the sports that I play and work hard to help the team win. I continue to improve myself physically by working in the weight room and staying after practice to continue to take batting practice. I throw everyday and lift and run to grow stronger and quicker and improve my abilities. Academically, I have stayed eligible my entire career. I strive to improve my performance on a daily basis. My academic performance has improved in college and I am close to a 3.0 currently.
I understand that being pursued by a college to play baseball is an extremely rare opportunity. I have been fortunate to play for 2 years at the college level. I have taken this very seriously and this is an opportunity I have not wasted. My plans are to play the game as long as I can and I would love the opportunity to continue to play and further my education in the process.
