Taran Temple '12 Recruiting Profile

I am committed to play my sophomore years for Owens Community College in Toledo OH.  Last year I played Junior College baseball in Chicago making starts at catcher and first-base, also seeing time at third-base while hitting .301 with 26 RBI.  In the classroom I compiled a 3.6/4.0 GPA and am on target to graduate from Owens with a Business degree.

While in High School I was All-County and All-Conference both my Junior and Senior years. I was voted all District my senior year and was a finalist for player of the year in my District. I was selected a 2012 Indiana All-Star team and was and Honorable Mention for All-State. My primary position was catcher for all three seasons, but I did start sixteen times at first-base over the last two seasons. My fielding percentages over the last three years were 0.985 (2010), 0.970 (2011) and 0.980 (2012), which garnered me three DHS Gold Glove awards. In a year that the bat was to drive down numbers I hit .420 with five HR’s, 15 doubles (a school record) and 33 RBI which ranked me near the top in class 3A. All while playing in one the state’s top ranked baseball conferences, the Hoosier Heritage Conference. I also lead my summer team in hitting over the last two years with batting averages of 0.410 (2010) and 0.414 (2011).

My final high school GPA was 8.054/12.0 scale. I ranked 70 of 197 in my graduating class. SAT’s scores of – 590 Reading, 530 Math and 490 Writing – 1,610 combined.

My goal is to find a home at a four year institute where I can be a good fit both academically and athletically. I have risen to the challenge at every level and will continue to push myself to be the best. If you are looking for a player that can step in and make an impact, then I am what you are looking for; a great defensive player – that can hit.
