My name is Drew Richardson and attend Athens Academy in Athens, Ga.. I'm currently a 6'2", 210 lb. catcher but also play 2nd and have pitched some. I have been a catcher since I was 9 and train year round on my batting and defensive skills.
In 2013 I was the starting catcher for my high school's Varsity team as a Freshman. I started all 23 games behind the plate. I finished the year with a .353 batting average and won "Most Outstanding Offensive Player" of the year award. I was also named to the All-Region team as a catcher. In 2014 I started every game for the Varsity and improved my batting average to over .400. I was named Most Outstanding Player by my coaches and named to the All-Region first team. In 2015, I again started in every game as our Varsity Catcher. My batting average has continued to improve and I finished the season over .500. I was named Co-Player of the year by the coaches in Region 8-A and Most Outstanding Player by my varsity coach. My grades continue to remain a focus as I work hard to be the best I can be in the classroom and on the field.
I am a physical player with an extremely good work ethic. I go all out on every play. I train year round on my offensive and defensive skills. I feel that I am very coachable and enjoy learning new skills and improving. I am a team player and will do whatever the team needs me to do.
I have proven to be a great leader not only on the athletic field but also in the classroom. I have been taking honor classes and have a strong desire to be at the top of my class academically. The school I go to is a College Prep. school. I work hard in all my classes and am on the Honor Roll. I currently have a 3.85gpa only because I am taking Honor classes. I wish it was a 4.0. I enjoy most of my teachers and always finish my assignments ahead of time so that I don't have to wait to the last minute.
My athletic goals are to play for a program that will not only make me a better player and athlete but also help me be better prepared for my future . I am very serious about playing baseball at the next level beyond high school and will continue to improve my game to achieve that goal.
