Personal Statement

Ever since I was a young boy I have wanted to play college baseball. I remember practicing as an eleven year old. I had a coach practicing with me three times a week for two hours each session. We threw, then he hit me ground balls, and finally we hit in the cage. I simply loved what I was doing. I was very tired after every session, but it only made me stronger.
As I have grown up, I have always wanted to get better. The only way to get better was to lift, throw, and run. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a great school that has helped me in all three of these areas by providing me a weight room that I can lift in, a field that I can throw on, and a track that I can run on.
Athletics are very important, yes, but the most important thing is academics. The most valuable asset that the school has given me is a  great critical thinking skill. The teachers at this school make me think, and that is what I have enjoyed most about attending this school. It is definitely a challenge, but what is the point of doing something that is not challenging?  The school not only cares about athletics but also cares about academics.
I believe I would be a great candidate for any school because I enjoy working hard on the field and in the classroom. My goals in college will be to get better and, most importantly, to win. I will do whatever it takes to win because winning is what the sport is all about.

  • Named to Top Prospect Team - Max McKinley is a 2016 RHP/3B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Tallahassee, FL who attends Maclay HS. Large athletic broad shouldered build, good present strength, looks larger than listed. Long extended arm action, over the top arm slot, loose arm out front, gets good use of his lower half in his delivery. Consistent low 80's fastball, topped out at 83 mph, good downhill angle and gets some sink and arm side running action as well. Hard slurve type curveball flashes good spin and some 10/4 sweeping depth. Nice feel for change up. Right handed hitter, rotational upper half swing with limited use of his lower half, line drive swing plane, has some strength at contact and could have more with adjustments, hits to all fields. High energy player who hustles on the field. Excellent student. Video here: https://www.skillshow.com/view_profile.php?id=26422
