Personal Statement

I will be a Senior this fall (2017) at Bartram Trail High School in Northeast Florida.   Since a young age, I have dreamed of playing college baseball.  A few years back, I made the decision to focus more on my pitching since I am a lefty pitcher.  My ultimate goal is to compete at the collegiate level and continue to develop in order to have an opportunity to play major league baseball.  I am a Catholic Christian and I am very involved in my faith, my church, and my youth group.  I am also a member of the National Honor Society, Bartram Trail Chapter.  I take my academics very seriously as you can see from my rigorous schedule and GPA.  I feel like I separate myself based on my combination of athletic skills, academic success and my faith.

3 things that represent me as a baseball player and a person:

  1. Leadership- In everything I do, I like to take a leadership role and help set the tone to accomplish our goals.  For example, I will always be the first person to tell my teammates good job if they made a good play while they are running back to the dugout.  I will also be the first person to tell them to get the next one if they make an error.  In the classroom, I show my leadership qualities by answering questions, helping my classmates, and taking the lead on group projects.  I like to be a vocal leader both on and off the field demonstrating leadership through my actions.
  2. Competitiveness- I am a very competitive person on and off the field.   If we are in a close game or a very competitive situation, I will be the one that is fired up about it and will encourage my teammates to do the same.  I love to be on the mound, and I give 110% and will do all of the small things to help my team compete to be the best of my abilities.   In the classroom, I spend the necessary time studying in order to try to get the highest grade on projects/tests/quizzes etc.
  3. Hard working- I am a very hard working person on the field and off.   Being a student-athlete is extremely difficult, but I know it will be worth it in the long run.  Having to juggle baseball, a rigorous academic program, homework and studying, extra curricular activities, church, and youth group is very difficult but I know that it is getting me prepared for college and being well rounded.   I know in college, I will have to work twice as hard as I am right now to continue having success.

Collegiate goals

  1. Obtain my bachelor’s degree in a field yet to be determined;
  2. Learn from a good coaching staff that will help me develop into a better pitcher;
  3. Lead my team in ERA and innings pitched; and
  4. Enjoy the best years of my life with my teammates and classmates
