Personal Statement

My name is Tyler Koronas, a graduate of Naples High School (2009) in Naples, FL. I currently attend Genesee Community College in New York. As team captain my senior year in high school, I have had the honor of leading my team to our first ever state championship; an experience I will never forget. I am a very dedicated baseball player, earning several awards over the years. The award I am most proud of is the Marines Honor, Courage and Commitment Award, presented to me at the State Tournament. This is a team voted award and I couldn't be more proud to be honored by my teammates at such a special time in all of our lives. The most exciting part of my game is getting on base and stealing bases, making the opposing team nervous. I also take pride in my defensive play, having the speed and agility to get to those balls in the hole. Having played baseball all of my life, I have confidence in my athletic abilities, mentally and physically, both on and off the field. I am currently attending Genesee Community College in Batavia, NY. I was the leadoff hitter, and played 2nd base in the fall of 2009. In the spring of 2010, I was recruited with a full scholarship to Stillman College in Alabama, but unfortunately, due to an injury, I took a medical redshirt and returned to Genesee Community College. I look forward to playing at a higher level of competition in the spring, and hope that my leadership skills will contribute to the success of our team. I plan to continue to work hard with a goal of transferring to a 4-year college where I can finish my education and continue to play baseball at the highest level. I am looking for a program that offers the resources and tools I need to continue to improve my skills, that are available before, during, and after the regular season. My hope is to return to the south where I am accustomed to playing almost year-round. I consider myself a very good student, and combined with my athletic abilities, I have confidence that I would be a positive contribution to any institution. I look forward to the challenge.
