My name is Kasey Koppelmaa and I am an outfielder/LHP from Littleton, Colorado. I am primarily a center fielder, but am able and willing to play both corners in left and right field as well. As a sophomore, on my 2016 varsity season, I started in left field, batted lead-off, and pitched long relief.
"I grew up on the diamond." I started playing ball at the age of 5. My dad has been a great part of my baseball development. As an Army veteran, he taught me to persevere through adversity. His knowledge of the game as a college baseball player at San Diego State University, has helped me to develop great bat speed and baseball IQ. Travel ball has also played a major role in my baseball career, by providing me with various opportunities to showcase my skill set past the local level. Trying out for different teams at a young age helped me adjust to high pressure situations. Adapting to the weather elements of Colorado, also pushed me to train on my own when games are cancelled or delayed.
I pride myself in taking initiative on the field and leading by example. Nothing excites me more than being able to execute in clutch situations for the better of the team. Overall, I am a determined, coachable, selfless player, and that has helped me succeed both on the field an in the classroom. At the plate, I approach with a lead off mentality, making the pitcher work. However, I'm not afraid to jump on a fastball.
Some of my goals for baseball are to play the game the right way, both on and off the field. I strive to maintain a good attitude and show passion for the game by hustling and showing respect. Academically, my goals are similar to those on the ball field. I want to gain a college education by staying respectful, hard working and challenged in the class room. I believe that my high school honors courses, and AP college level courses will prepare me for success as a college student athlete. My aspirations are to play baseball at the highest level I can, obtain a college degree, and continue to learn important life lessons that I believe the game of baseball teaches you.
When it comes to specific schools, I am interested in larger NCAA universities, that have plenty to offer academically and athletically. I want to find a school that I can fit into and call home, where I can take my education as a student athlete into the future.
