Personal Statement

My goal in college is to study math and major in civil engineering.  My aspiration is to use my civil engineering degree and to work for my dad’s company and one day help him run it. This is important because I have always loved math and have always succeeded at math, and it would be nice to do what I love. My goals in baseball are to have command of four pitches and be able to throw them for consistent strikes. My aspiration for collegiate baseball is to build my character through the adversity learned in baseball, so one day I could be a better person to my community.

I can help a college team team because I not only push myself on the field, but I will lead by example off the field as well. One of the ways I have learned to be a leader is through my experience as a quarterback in football.  A quarterback must have respect and solid leadership skills because you need to run the offense and lead the whole team. I also lead by giving back to baseball. I love baseball very much, and it shows through my service to my coach in the off season. My coach holds a summer baseball camp for 10-14 year olds and I usually attend to help the kids and help the coach with whatever they need.

I am different in character by not just doing the bare minimum on tasks that have been assigned I usually go beyond the standards to understand the concept and really build my own character. I have been doing community service for three years now, and my favorite place to go is St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store. I love to go there because of what they do with their money and how they affect the community. Their mission is to join women and men through God to grow spiritually and also to provide person to person service to those who are suffering and needy. Sometimes we tend to think we have it hard, but we forget to think that other people have difficult situations.

I am different in my athletics because I have devoted myself to not only an active lifestyle in baseball but also eating right and doing what is necessary in order to maintain a physical peak for a pitcher. I see a trainer who was in the MLB himself as a pitcher and attend throwing clinics regularly.  I eat healthy and make sure that I don’t eat something that could slow me down on the mound or in the weight room.  I have also taken the initiative to attend to individual pitching lessons with a pitching coach. I have been going to a certified NPA instructor for the past 4 years.  I also go to my high school field in order to get extra work in on my own.

I am different in all that I do because I don’t just do the bare minimum; I take the time to understand a lesson. No matter how hard or how long an objective might be I push through it with my best effort. If I still don’t understand a concept I make sure to ask my coach or teacher more questions in order to have a better understanding. I believe all these qualities will not only make me a good fit for your program, but will be a key player to help you achieve the goals you have set for your program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
