Hello coaches. My name is Willy Avelar and I am a senior at Mesa High School in Mesa Arizona. My goal since I was 8 years old was to one day play collegiate baseball. I have been working ever since then to make my dream a reality. Through that time, I have seen what it takes to play college ball and I have been working and training to make sure I have the attributes to make it.
One of my biggest and best qualities is the ability to lead. I have always been a leader by example, but in recent seasons, I have learned to be a leader vocally not just quietly. Another strength is the ability to forget. As you know baseball is game of failure and my ability to forget has helped me offensively and defensively. Whether it be having a bad game at the plate or on the field. My personal motto has always been, you may beat me at one element of the game, but you will not beat me at the other. Also, my spirit of competition is very high. No matter what the score be, you will find me on the field competing just like the game is tied in the bottom of the ninth inning.
My GPA as of now does not reflect me as a student. It is a 2.9 GPA and growing to make sure I am above a 3.0. I am a very hard working student, who focuses in the classroom just as hard as I do on the baseball diamond. A good player and student is what you need and I am the right guy for the job.
