My interest in baseball probably started when I was about (3) years old because I enjoyed hitting things with my large plastic bat and throwing spoons in restaurants. I began by playing tee-ball and progressed to rec league, travel ball, Little League, school ball, and more travel. My father played college baseball with a brief stint in the Majors….so my love for the game may be genetic. I also enjoy the comradery that baseball provides with other players as I’m very outgoing. I initially played infield positions such as shortstop and third; however, between ages 12 – 14, I had (2) meniscus repair surgeries and a temporary foot condition (Sever’s Disease) which made running extremely painful. During that time, I focused more on becoming a pitcher exclusively in order to continue playing. Baseball has taught me many valuable life lessons, selflessness, the willingness to prepare, never give up and no excuses. However, there is one that stands out above the rest. As a pitcher, I’m all alone on that mound but it takes a “team” effort to be successful and I will only progress as a pitcher if I’m willing to listen to the insight and wisdom of those with more experience such as my Coaches.
My goal is to play college baseball at a highly competitive level for an institution which challenges me both athletically and academically. I believe that I possess a unique set of skills which will prove beneficial to the Coaching Staff/University that invests in me. I am competitive, tenacious, and I display a quiet level of confidence on the mound. I have been told that my ball has a lot of “natural” movement which when coupled with a “gutsy” attitude make for an extremely competitive combination. I have readily faced pressure situations, such as coming in relief when the bases are loaded, with a cool resolve and a mentally tough attitude. I welcome the opportunity to become a member of a college baseball team and I look forward to the journey of transitioning from High School baseball to the next level.
